Italian educational system has faced a continuous expansion of participation, starting from the second post-war period. This expansion helped in reducing inequalities at first, but, in the last years, this trend seemed to have stopped: old and new inequalities are still produced and reproduce themselves against equality, equity, and appreciable individual and aggregated results. In the meanwhile, educational policies seem to have entered a relative standstill produced by both the instability of economic cycles (cuts to education public spending) and the affirmation of new neoliberal policies, which open spaces of a semi-market with no certainties of equity and performance.

In the encounter, the speakers will discuss the themes of the book, referring to contexts and questions related to different school types and grades.
