Remote access to resources
University users (students, lecturers, staff, etc.) with a unimib email address (n.surname@campus.unimib.it or name.surname@unimib.it) can access the Library's electronic resources (e-books, e-journals, databases) even when they are off campus, by logging in using their university credentials.
No VPN connection is required for remote access.
In order access the collection, users need to search through Prometeo or use the list of electronic journals and then enter their webmail details when requested.
External or informal users who do not have a university email address can only use the electronic resources when they are at the university, and only if licenses allow it.
Remote access enables users to:
- use databases to find articles, data etc.
- find e-journals by title, discipline, publisher etc.
- find e-books by publisher, save them as pdfs or borrow them
A restricted group of databases which require passwords or additional applications can only be consulted at the University Library. This applies to University users too. This is specified in the description of each database in the Prometeo catalogue info.
If users have queries or encounter issues, they can consult the section on remote access in the FAQs or write to usbd@unimib.it.
Instructions for specific categories of users are provided below.
Google Scholar users
Either of the two addresses shown below can be used by those who prefer to use Google Scholar:
- http://login.proxy.unimib.it/login?url=https://scholar.google.it or:
After logging in using your university webmail credentials, you will be able to access the full text of all articles subscribed by the Library.
Any error messages after logging in are temporary issues due to high traffic from our proxy IP detected by Google.
As a rule, access will be restored within a few days.
In the meantime, you can search our Prometeo catalogue (which only displays material the Library has access to).
Regular users of a single journal/database
If you regularly consult the same resources, you can copy the address of the page into the box below.
When you click “Go”, a new window will open with a modified address.
This can then be saved in your Favourites/Bookmarks.
If you need any information or assistance, please write to usbd@unimib.it.
