After the success of the guided visits to the Archivio di Stato in Milan, the efforts to promote the heritage of the archives of our city are restarted.
This time, the Historical Archive Pole of the University Library, offers a guided tour of the Citadella degli Archivi of the city of Milan, an important archive in the surrounding area, Niguarda zone (via Gregorovius 15).
The Cittadella degli Archivi of Milan has a capacity of over 90,000 linear meters and hosts over 2.5 million historical, sociological, cultural and administrative procedures and files produced by public and private institutions, as well as tens of thousands of files produced by municipal offices each year.
In the archive are kept very rare pieces of the history of Milan, such as the purchase contract of the Pietà Rondanini by Michelangelo, the announcement of the funeral of Verdi, drawings by Milan's great architects and wonderful auter manifestors.
Each document is retrieved very quickly thanks to Eustorgio, a robot of the latest generation equipped with artificial intelligence, which makes the Citadella one of the largest mechanized archives in Europe.
You can book by filling in the online form for one of the scheduled visits on the following dates and times:
