The fourth encounter of a series of cine concerts that the University Library is holding for the Grand Silent Film Festival will be on Thursday, February 3 at 20.00 h at classroom 7 of the University of Milan-Bicocca (building U6, Piazza dell’Ateneo Nuovo 1, Milano).
The film “Fantasia ‘e surdato” (1927) will be projected along with the first performance ever of the new original pieces for piano solo composed ad hoc by Maestro Rossella Spinosa.
Elvira Notari is one of the most important directors of silent movies. She has been recognized as a talented and creative (both artistic and popularizing) woman unquestionably, she has done more than 80 films (documentaries and feature films).
Restored by Cineteca Nazionale of Rome, “Fantasia ‘e surdato” is probably the movie that has the most recurrent elements of Notari’s movies: love, jealousy, betrayal, destroyed family, the bad woman, and the honor won in a battle.
It’s an intricate and intense story where the call of the music is expressed in a strongly traditional way.
