Kids’ events in the library are back

Animated readings for kids will be back on Saturday, October 9 at 10.30 at the Central University Library (building U6 Agorà, Piazza dell’Ateneo Nuovo 1, Milano).

“Memorial” by G. Crew, S. Tan (Eliot, Rome, 2011) will be read by Martino Negri, professor of Childhood Literature and Literature Didactics at University of the studies of Milano-Bicocca and Federica Gardella, teacher at Kids’ Bicocca Elementary School.

A big tree unifies four different generations of the same family. This tree was planted at the end of WWI and it’s menaced by the need of viability of the small Australian town where it grew. The youngest member of the family will fiercely fight to protect it, without any success, but his fight is worth more than the outcomes.

“Memorial” is a great story made up of words and images and it’s the apex of the collaboration between the writer Gary Crew and Shaun Tan, who was at the beginning of his career back then and it’s now considered as one of the greatest contemporary and visual narrators for childhood.

This animated reading is for primary and middle school kids.

We remind visitors that the Green Pass won’t be required for kids under 12 years old.

This event is part of the activities for the Festival GenerAzioni, which will take place in Milan from October, 7 till October 10, 2021.

Freed admission after filling in the online form.
