Services during COVID-19

Access

As of 26 April 2021, all sites are open:

  • between Monday and Thursday from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • on Friday from 9:AM to 6:30 PM.

Masks are compulsory and all visitors must use the hand sanitiser at the entrances.

Reading rooms

The reading rooms are open with reduced capacity in order to enable social distancing.

You will only be able to access the reading rooms if you have pre-booked a seat for a time slot via the Affluences app.

All users must check-in via the Affluences app using the QR Code at the entrance of the library. If you don't check-in during the first hour, your booking will be cancelled and your space will be freed up for another patron.

Masks are compulsory and all visitors must use the hand sanitiser at the entrances.

To ensure the safety of all, please disinfect your desk before you start working, using the disinfectant and cloths provided.

Borrowing a book

Want to borrow a book or journal?

  1. Search for a book or journal in the Curiosone catalogue, log in and place a hold (see the “How to reserve a book in Curiosone” tutorial). You’ll have ten days to come and collect your book or journal.
  2. Wait for a confirmation email from the library: it contains a link to book a time slot on the Affluences app
  3. Read the safety instructions before coming to the university.
  4. At the Central Library, reserved books are kept in a dedicated area and patrons can use the self-service borrowing machines. At the Science and Medicine Libraries, books on hold are lent by Library staff.

Returning a book

Want to return a book

  1. Book a slot on the Affluences app
  2. Read the safety instructions before coming to the university.
  3. Leave the book in book drop box at the Central and Medicine Library. At the Science Library, books can be returned to the librarians during opening hours and using the box at the reception desk on the ground floor at other times.

Biblio Delivery

You can’t reach the University and you want to receive your books by mail?

  1. Search for a book in our Curiosone catalogue, log in and place a hold, respecting borrowing rules (number of books and duration);
  2. The confirmation email will contain a link to a form: fill it in, giving the full delivery address (books can be delivered at your home, or at the nearest post office).

Poste Italiane picks up parcels twice a week.

You can also use Poste Delivery Business to return books you borrowed in person:

  1. Fill in the Book Returns by Mail form;
  2. Print out the shipping document you will receive by email;
  3. Take the parcel with the books to the nearest Poste Italiane office.

Shipping is paid for in full by the University Library.

Inter-library services

Interlibrary and document delivery services are still active. They provide books or articles which are not owned by the university library but are available at other libraries.

Articles and book chapters ordered through document delivery will be provided in digital format.

You can send your requests to interbib@unimib.it.

Online assistance and services

You can use the Curiosone catalogue to consult e-books, ejournals and databases remotely.

Watch the Biblio e-Learning tutorials for more information on getting the best out of the library's services and resources.

If you have any queries, please write to biblioteca@unimib.it.
