Document delivery means you can request copies of articles from scientific journals from other libraries or document supply centers.
The journals must not be owned by the University's libraries, or by libraries in Milan which make them available for consultation (for instance, the Università degli Studi di Milano libraries, the Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense - Brera National Library, the Sormani Library). Only patrons of the Medicine Library, which is in the town of Monza, can request articles from libraries in Milan.
Therefore, before requesting this service you must first check our electronic catalogue, our e-journals list and the catalogues of other libraries in Milan, through the Archivio Collettivo Nazionale dei Periodici (ACNP) catalogue. The article will be sent to your area library.
Only professors, researchers, doctoral students, research fellows and technical and administrative staff can request articles held by area libraries of Università degli Studi di Milano. Students must go to the libraries themselves.
You can request both articles and books not owned by the Library (see Inter Library Loan):
- Central and Science Libraries: up to 5 requests at a time (articles or books)
- Medicine Library: up to 10 requests at a time (with a maximum of 5 books)
New requests can be sent once the previous ones have been closed.
We suggest you submit your requests through our online catalogue (OPAC), by filling in the form (see fornitura articoli) with the bibliographic data needed for retrieval.
Otherwise, you can write an e-mail to your Library:
The request must include your surname, name, matriculation number (for students), or your professional status and the institutional body you belong to (for other users); without this information the request will not be processed.
Library staff will notify you promptly as soon as the document arrives, either by e-mail or in the mode specified in your request. You are allowed to keep the photocopies of the article.
Most publishers' licences forbid delivering a digital copy to the user.
